West Ham secure move to Olympic Stadium

 

Iconic venue is to become the club's new home from the 2016/17 season

West Ham United have confirmed that the Olympic Stadium will become their new home from 2016.

The club, who were named as the preferred bidders for the venue back in December, have been granted a 99-year lease for a stadium that was the centrepiece of last summer's London Olympic Games.

When the renovation work on the stadium is completed, it will have a capacity of 54,000 while there are plans for a retractable seating system to allow for athletics events.

22 March 2003: Manchester United 3-0 Fulham

Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy started a record-breaking run of scoring in 10 consecutive Barclays Premier League matches with a hat-trick in the victory over Fulham at Old Trafford.

The Dutch international forward opened the scoring from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time but he dazzled the Old Trafford faithful with his second goal, as he shrugged off Sylvain Legwinski in the centre circle and raced past three Fulham defenders before scoring with a superb finish.

Neymar Transfer Boost For Manchester City & Chelsea

 

Brazilian striker has not signed for Barcelona.

Brazilian international striker Neymar has opened the door to a potential move to the Premier League and to either Manchester City or Chelsea after denying that he has agreed a transfer to Spain to join Barcelona.

It had been reported that Barcelona had paid an initial €10 million to secure the capture of the Santos starlet after the 2014 World Cup, which will be held in Brazil, with a further €30 million upon completion of his move to La Liga. His contract with Santos runs until the summer of 2014.

Man United beat Liverpool

 

Premier League leaders Manchester United and second-placed champions Manchester City put former English heavyweights Liverpool and Arsenal firmly in their place on Sunday with United's Robin van Persie again on song.

United sealed a needlessly nervy 2-1 home win over eighth-placed Liverpool to maintain their seven-point lead after Van Persie with a goal and Patrice Evra with two assists put rival Luis Suarez in the shade.

In contrast, the game in London was never in doubt with City winning 2-0 for their first league win at Arsenal in 38 years.

FRANK LAMPARD LEAVING CHELSEA FOR SURE

 

FRANK LAMPARD'S Chelsea career will definitely be over at the end of this season - and there will be no U-turn by the club.

The England legend, 34, has not been offered a new deal even though his current £150,000-a-year contract runs out this summer.

There were some suggestions over the weekend that owner Roman Abramovich had changed his mind and that a new deal was about to be discsussed.
